code
- Built in help system
- Clean and customisable user interface
Select one or more page ranges or non-contiguous pages using a simple character code. Pages are processed in the order that is displayed, allowing for the compilation of split PDFs in any page order. Separate PDF's are created for each split group. See below for how to form valid expressions to suit your requirements.
Character syntax
0-9999
Specify a valid page in the source PDF. If the page does not exist, it will not be added to the split PDFs
,
(comma)
Separator for individual page numbers appearing in each split group, for example 1,3,10. Pages are added to the split PDF in the order that they appear.
-
(hyphen)
Separator between two page number signifying a contiguous page range, for example 1-10. Pages are added from the lowest page number to the highest. You can mix individual page numbers in each split group, for example 1-10,13,15-17,14,11 produces a singe PDF with the individual or contiguous pages identified.
;
(semicolon)
An separate PDF is created for each group of numbers separated by this character, for example 1-10;13,15-17;14,11 which produces three PDF files, each containing the individual or contiguous pages shown between the semicolon characters.
*
(asterix)
Use this character as the first and only entry to copy all pages to a new document. Any security applied to the original document will be removed.
Examples
1;2;5
outputs three documents, for page 1, 2 and 5
1;2;5;3,2,1
as above plus the first three pages in reverse order in another document
1;2;5;3,2,1;1-3,7-8
as above plus one pdf with pages 1-3 and 7-8
As you can imagine, this can make for some pretty fancy PDF re-organisation if you need to.
I also have an app to merge PDFs - see Merge PDFs
It is likely that these two apps will be combined into a single utility at some time in the future. Let me know if you think this is a good idea.
PDF Splitter is free. It doesn't connect to the internet, gather telemetry or display advertisements. Use it and enjoy. If you would like to say thanks, consider making a donation via PayPal.
For commercial use, consider a white-label version of this app. Customisation includes your branding including app name, logo and colour scheme and removal of my own details. Contact me for details.
