One program to rule them all - If you use windows portable apps or executable programs that do not include an installer, this is a simple utility that will catalogue any program added inside a folder of your choosing, display a list and allow you to start a program with a double-click.
Portable applications are windows executable files that don't have an installer to include entries in the start menu. They can be incredibly useful utilities or packaged Windows applications such as those available at PortableApps.com
If you are like me and have lots of handy little tools and the odd portable app, finding and running them quickly can be a bit of a drag, normally using a file explorer and trying to remember which folder I put them in. With this little app you no longer have to.
Place .exe files or a folder containing executables inside a known folder, by default it's %mydocuments%\Applications and Portable App Launcher will catalogue each executable it finds, displaying them in alphabetical order along with their program icons. Double-click any item to launch the application. Other features include:
.exe
%mydocuments%\Applications
